It finally begins Rainbow Freedaythe fortnight dedicated to the vast world of independent artistic production in Italy. 15 to 30 January 2021, a rich programme of events and initiatives by some of Italy's leading players in the performing arts and art world will aim to focus on the diversity and productivity of a sector that is so important for everyone. The programme schedule is available at www.rainbowfreeday.com.
Among the participants in Rainbow Freeday there is also Slow Music, a non-profit association that promotes numerous initiatives aimed at creating a network of cooperation between the industry and music consumers. Every morning at 11 a.m. from 15 to 30 January, the web channels of Rainbow Freeday and on Optimagazine his Slow Club, a free and independent magazine broadcast on social media during the lockdown months in which numerous Italian and international artists took part, including Peter Cincotti, Nina Zilli, Damien McFly, Ryan Bingham, Saturnino and many others.

FANTASTIC NEGRITO
Currently up for the third Grammy Award of his career for his latest album Have You Lost Your Mind Yet? (Cooking Vinyl, 2020), Fantastic Negrito is the embodiment of a musician who has returned to the world after going through countless hardships, and in his songs, the storytelling is as important as the sound: songs born out of a long and troubled life conveyed by typical roots music based on slide guitar, drums and piano. Fantastic Negrito is the story of a man who struggled to make it, only to lose everything and commit to climbing back up from the bottom. He returned to music in 2014 playing on the streets of Oakland and won the first contest to participate in the well-known NPR format Tiny Desk. In 2016 he released his first full length The Last Days of Oaklandwhich earned him his first Grammy as Best Contemporary Blues Album in 2017.

PAUL WELLER
British singer, guitarist and composer Paul Weller is a veritable institution in his homeland and one of the main representatives of Mod culture. His recording debut came in 1977 with the release of In The City (Polydor Records) with the Jam, a band of which he was frontman and with which he reached the top of the UK charts several times. In 1982, he founded Style Council together with keyboardist Mick Talbot in order to explore the boundaries of acid jazz. With this experience also over, Paul Weller launched his solo career, pushing the boundaries of pop, folk, soul and even electronic sounds. This incredible capacity for experimentation emerges in Weller's flourishing discography, which has released no less than fifteen studio albums since 1992, the most recent of these, On Sunset (Polydor), was released in July 2020. To make up for the lack of concerts, last November Weller streamed with Mid-Sömmer Musik - A Paul Weller special.

DEATHSTARS
Deathstars formed in 2000 in Strömstad, Sweden. Their music draws on a wide variety of influences, from black and death metal to rock'n'roll and industrial. To date, they have released four albums: Synthetic Generation (2003), Termination Bliss (2006), Electric Night (2009) e The Perfect Cult (2014). Following the return to the line-up of guitarist Cat Casino and their return to the stages of European festivals such as Wacken, Graspop and Master of Rock, the band is currently putting the finishing touches to their new work, due for release in the coming months on the Nuclear Blast label.

Formed by brothers Oliver and Louis Leimbach, Lime Cordiale were born in Sydney's Northern Beaches area in 2009. Their recording debut dates back to 2012, but it is Permanent Vacation (Chugg Music/MGM, 2017) to make them popular with countrymen by reaching number 1 on the AIR 100% Independent Australian Albums chart, with the single Temper Temper which was awarded a gold disc. Last summer the band opened the doors of its home for the original series Ticketmaster Homecoming at home with... and public 14 Steps to a Better Youwhich reached number one in the Australian charts and earned him eight nominations and the award in the Breakthrough Artist - Release category at the 2020 ARIA Awards.

MILKY CHANCE
Clemens Rehbein and Philipp Dausch are deejay and singer/musician respectively, with a background in the jazz group Flown Tones. They achieved success in 2013 with the album Sadnecessary (Lichtdicht Records) and especially the launch single Stolen Dancewhich consecrated the duo by conquering commercial and alternative radio stations around the world and becoming one of the most searched songs on Shazam ever. Their debut also attracts the attention of prominent publications such as - People, Rolling Stone, Entertaiment Weekly. In 2017 they released their second album Blossom (Muggelig Records/Universal Music), which recorded hundreds of thousands of streams in addition to gold and platinum records worldwide. The subsequent Mind The Moon (Muggelig Records/Universal Music, 2019) definitively consecrated Clemens and Philipp's transformation from pop phenomenon to talented songwriters, and Italian fans were able to hear them live at their extraordinary concert in Milan in 2020. The duo also remained active during the lockdown with the release of the EP Stay Home Sessions and the single Don't Let Me Down in the company of Jack Johnson.

Fat Freddy's Drop is a New Zealand band formed in the 1990s in Wellington, whose style is a psychedelic combination of dub, reggae, soul, jazz and rhythm and blues. THE SISTERS OF MERCY
