The Prodigy are pleased to announce the release of the first excerpt from their forthcoming new album, 'Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned"(scheduled for retail release at the end of August), on 28 June 2004. The track in question, entitled 'Memphis Bells"will be available exclusively as a digital download. By going to the site www.alwaysoutnumbered.com Starting at 6pm (GMT) on Monday 28 June at a cost of £2 (approx. € 06.00) it will be possible to access one of the 5000 downloads made available by the band for their fans in the form of a digital limited edition.
Each of the 5000 downloads will be a different version of the original track, so each download will have its own uniqueness. It will also be possible to download the corresponding artwork, which in turn will obviously be present with 5000 different versions. Each of the downloads and its artwork will be numbered.
The price of each download has not yet been defined, but it will be possible to purchase the track in four different formats: a classic mix, a headphone mix for iPods, a bass mix for DJs and a 5.1 surround sound mix.
The limited edition digital download of 'Memphis Bells' sets a precedent in the music market. Where most artists and record companies are still sceptical about the use of the net, THE PRODIGY do not hesitate to take every possible advantage of it, using the latest technology to bring their music directly into the homes of their fans in an innovative way.
