STREEAT, FOOD TRUCK FESTIVAL IN MILAN ON 30, 31 MAY AND 1 JUNE

The first edition of "STREEAT" arrives in Milan, at the Fabbrica del Vapore: the Festival organised by Barley Arts, with free admission, entirely dedicated to quality street food on wheels (the FoodTruck). 30, 31 May, 1 June 2014: 3 days of StreetFood, music, writers and workshops for all participants (children, young people and families).

Tradition and the boom of street food meet the creativity and personality of young enthusiasts who choose to move around on four wheels rather than settle in a fixed kitchen.?Fast, cheap, gourmet, design e 'on the road' meet and coexist on trucks set up like real travelling kitchens, offering the public a unique and totally innovative gastronomic experience.

It is a 'movement' that is already well known and established both in Europe and America, where FoodTrucks and festivals dedicated to them are now part of daily life and regular events: Paris, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles... (in the USA alone, there are some 20,000 FoodTrucks! Source: 'Small Business Lab). But in Italy it is emerging right now, starting with small ApeCars equipped with mini kitchens and a simple but excellent gastronomic offer.

The ultimate aim of the STREEAT Festival is to bring and welcome to Milan, within the large square of the 'Fabbrica del Vapore', (an open-air location suitable for creating an enormous Food Court), an iconic event of good street food on wheels starting at networking among the first Italian FoodTruck, one year before the arrival of the great Universal Exhibition, EXPO Milan 2015which will bring international audiences.

During the 3 days, a series of entertainment activities will take place: from StreetArt to book presentations,with the musical selection as soundtrack by d-trot e rustThere will also be workshops and round tables organised in cooperation with ActionAid.?A gathering of artists-craftsmen therefore, but also an opportunity to meet and share experiences and moments of reflection on the topic of food in a conscious and innovative way.

They will be present Don Pasta (Music & ShowCooking) and Chef RUBIO, with the UNTI&BISUNTI truck, starring every Monday evening on DMAX (digital terrestrial channel 52) with the new season of the hit show UNTI E BISUNTI, to entertain the FoodTruckers and those present. But also Clara and Gigi Padovani with their latest book 'StreetFood all'italiana' (Giunti), Beniamino Nespor and Eugenio Roncoroni of 'Al Mercato' with their book 'StreetFood d'Autore', and Luca Iaccarinoauthor of 'Cibo di Strada' (Mondadori).

The objectives of the initiative are:

-                   promote real quality street food served on FoodTrucks on the move and start creating and networking among Italian FoodTrucks.

-                   Bringing Milan into line with other European capitals with regard to market trends in StreetFood and targeted, quality food and wine festivals;
