Last night at the Zoe Club in Baggio a strange character arrived, came on stage and started playing. I wondered who he was. I tried to close my eyes, and in my mind it materialised Smokey Robinsonthen Curtis Mayfeld. At one point I thought it was Lenny Kravitz when he comes out with his beautiful ballads, or perhaps Steve Wonder. I opened my eyes, read the playbill and discovered that this guy's name is VAN HUNT.
Back to reality.
Some insiders had anticipated this, so last night we were perhaps expecting it. But the surprise was great nonetheless: Van Hunt live he's a monster! In an hour and a half show, the 26-year-old from Atlanta concentrated an overwhelming mix of soul and funk, remaking James Browndistorting Sly Stone, greeting Al Greenand even mentioning the Rolling Stone. As well as clearly presenting all the titles from his self-titled debut album, released a few months ago on the Capitol / EMI label. The band that accompanies him holds it up great, and it is indeed a Mr Concert.

Returning by taxi to the hotel, Van Hunt sees San Siro and asks what it is. "It's San Siro, Inter and AC Milan play there, they also have concerts there: Bruce Springsteen, Rolling Stone...maybe you'll play there in a few years."
He smiles.
The evening ends, see you next dear Van.
